The Expanse (2015)

The Expanse, Three people in spacesuits

The Expanse (2015) is a SciFi television series that has five seasons so far. The series was developed by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, based on the novels of the same name by James S. A. Corey.

In a world of limited resources and even more limited places to live, there is a political battle between the three factions, with related intrigues and conspiracies. Planet Earth, led by the UN, is on its way to losing its dominant position. Its main rival is Mars, a recent colony, but now an independent and powerful force that has become a militarized eco-state due to the preservation of the fragile ecological balance.

As these two forces led a kind of Cold War, on the edges of their interest spheres, a resistance movement is emerging in the asteroid belt, Outer Planet Alliance (OPA), which seeks independence and control over the Belt and resources. To make things not simple, private corporations use tensions for their own benefit.

The series follows the disappearance of a young woman whose case connects an experienced detective (Thomas Jane) and a bad but charismatic captain (Steven Strait) of a ship in a race for the truth across the solar system. They will try to discover the greatest conspiracy in the history of mankind.
The Expanse relies heavily on the scientific reality of space.
