According to rumors that have appeared online, the next Star Wars movies will be set 400 years before the Skywalker Saga in the period known as The High Republic.
Ever since the first Star Wars films came out, and during the prequels trilogy and then Disney’s sequels trilogy, everything revolved around Skywalkers. They were at the center of a story that unfolded a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… There were also several spin-off films like Solo: A Star Wars Story and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. And their stories also happened in the Skywalker era. The movie that ended this era about Skywalkers is Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker. That is the third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
Star Wars has just completed the successful first season of The Mandalorian on Disney+. But Disney and Lucasfilm already have release dates set aside for Star Wars movies 2022, 2024, and 2026. These new films were to be directed by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones), who meanwhile left the Star Wars project. Their movies were meant to be focused on the origins of the Jedi. Although it was expected that Disney and Lucasfilm would leave that concept upon their departure, they still appear to be planning a similar approach.
“The High Republic” era
According to MakingStarWars, the next Star Wars movie saga will reportedly be set hundreds of years before the Skywalker saga. The story would take place during a period known as “The High Republic” era. According to the report, it will be just after the establishment of Darth Bane’s Sith’s Rule of Two. It was a time when none of the famous characters in the franchise could appear in films other than Yoda, which, given its age in the Skywalker Saga, would have been a Jedi at that time. But, it would be very interesting to watch Yoda at his young age as a Jedi and his adventure. As well as his developmental journey to the Grand Master of the Jedi Order.
It is also mentioned that the first Star Wars movie in this series, which is scheduled for 2022, already has directors. And who it will be, Lucasfilm is yet to announce in the coming months.
However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed. But it will not be long before Disney and Lucasfilm release details of their new Star Wars movie projects. Therefore, we have to wait for the official confirmation from Lucasfilm and Disney and see if this period, located about 400 years before the Skywalker Saga, known as The High Republic, will be set as the storytime of the next Star Wars films.
