Yes, you read it right. News has surfaced on the web that Ahsoka Tano will appear in the second season of The Mandalorian. According to Slashfilm’s independent sources, Lucasfilm has cast Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka.
Honestly, this is good news. Although we don’t know yet how significant Ahsoka’s role will be and how many episodes she will appear in, yet her appearance in the live-action movie is a big step. As a big fan of Ahsoka Tano, I hope this will be just the first step towards a spin-off movie or TV series about Ahsoka.
This is a dream come true for many fans, especially those who hoped it could happen after Rosario Dawson on twitter responded to a fan’s twit about her appearance as Ahsoka in a Star Wars movie, with: ” Ummmm… yes, please ?! #AhsokaLives “.
Also, in Good Morning America, Rosario said in response to a campaign for her to play the role launched by a fan group: “It would be amazing!”
Who is Ahsoka Tano?
Ahsoka Tano made her first appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) animated movie. It was the prelude to her appearance in the hit TV series The Clone Wars of six seasons and which has now been revived for the last and final seventh season that is currently airing on Disney Plus. In the meantime, after the sixth season of Clone Wars, she had her role in the Rebels as well. Initially, many fans did not welcome Ahsoka well, but as her character developed through the series, she eventually became one of the most beloved Star Wars characters. In The Clone Wars series, Ahsoka was voiced by Ashley Eckstein. A characteristic of Ahsoka is that she always wears two lightsabers, and has her own distinctive fighting style.
Ahsoka, a Togruta female, was a Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker. She eventually quit the Jedi Order and, after the Clone Wars conflict, years later, helped establish a network of rebel cells against the Galactic Empire.
Rosario Dawson
Dawson is known for having several roles in comic book adaptations, including Gail in Sin City (2005) and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014). Also, one of her most memorable roles is the portrayal of Claire Temple in five of the Marvel/Netflix series: Jessica Jones (2015), Daredevil (2015–2016), Luke Cage (2016–2018), Iron Fist (2017) and The Defenders(2017).
However, there is still no official confirmation from Lucasfilm and Disney, so we expect more information on this in the coming period.
